Forum Invest announce for 3 years - program of economic forums dedicated to
AGRICULTURE AND AGRIBUSINESS IN SOUTH-EASTERN EUROPE
In the context of the challenging impact of the financial-economic crisis, food insecurity on global population and more than 1,3 billion people suffering from chronic hunger, Forum Invest is rallying to the efforts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to defeat hunger and build long-term food security programs to support agriculture and agribusiness.
Therefore, agriculture is the core topic of a new program of economic forums to take place between 2011 – 2013, launched by Forum Invest in July this year, on the occasion of the first edition of BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL FORUM – BIF 2011 (July 4-31, 2011).
At BIF 2011, a special focus was given to the agricultural sector, with a premiere international conference on “Agriculture and Agribusiness in South-Eastern Europe”, that took place on the 6th of July. Agriculture and Rural Development EU Commissioner, Dacian Ciolos, was the key-note speaker of this event, together with the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Baconschi, Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Valeriu Tabara, General Mayor of Bucharest, Sorin Oprescu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry from Republic of Moldova, Vasile Bumacov, Chairman of the Romanian Presidential Commission for Agriculture Developing Policies, Valeriu Steriu, Romanian National Correspondent at FAO, Bogdan Bazga, high level business representatives, state officials and mass-media.
Over 150 participants – high rank officials, companies’ representatives, businessmen, diplomats and journalists from Romania and other countries in South-Eastern Europe, as well as from Gulf countries – attended the Forum.
The main purpose of the program is to enhance regional and international dialogue, and strengthen the cooperation between South-Eastern European countries, joining efforts and strong commitments of governments and the main organizations to promote and efficiently exploit valuable agricultural resources of the region.
The second edition of Agriculture and Agribusiness in South-Eastern Europe International Forum will take place on November 9-10, 2011, in Bucharest, and will consolidate an extended dialogue platform, where stakeholders from worldwide will be provided a generous framework to generate substantial debates and initiate long-term partnerships on food security, natural resource management, forestry and fisheries, early warning of food emergencies, disaster recovery, food safety and many other areas.
