Closing Event of the Project Traditional and Wild

Category: MAP news, MAP Members news The successful three year project (2011. – 2014.) was concluded by a closing event, in Budapest, a conference, with presentations of both external experts and project partners. The program also included questions and answers, exhibition on wild growing plants and activities of the consortium, film presentation about traditional and up-to date plant collection, multilateral discussions on experiences and future plans.

Highlights of the program included:

  • Goals and results of the traditional and wild project (P. Radácsi)
  • Significance of plant collection today - enhancing rural development, contributing to sustainability (A. Timoshyna)
  • Traditions on collection and use of wild growing plants - results of the ethnobotanical survey (M. Draganik)
  • Preserving cultural heritage on plants in Kiskunság region (J. Szántai)
  • Expectations of consumers and producers for wild growing plant material (D. Krpan)
  • Good practices in wild collection: activities of the local action group in Horňácko (V. HrdouÅ¡ek)
  • Education as an important tool in creating raising awareness/job possibilities -experiences of trainings and training material-toolbox (Kr. Rodina)
  • Free training courses on medicinal plants – as good practice from South Moravia (St. Novak)
  • Workshops for children -"From Grain to Bread" (A. Smolej, T. Gobec)
  • etc.

Concluding remarks were made by the project coordinator Prof. É. Németh (Corvinus University, Budapest)
The project web-site contains a well-documented comprehensive chronicle of the manifold activities carried out within the framework of the three year successful project, in five languages (including English).
