Division HORTICULTURE FOR HUMAN HEALTH replacing the Section for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (SEME)

At the IHC2018, a revised scientific structure will come in place which is to replace the existing Sections and Commissions by introducing a series of Divisions instead. This new structure had been initiated by the ISHS Council, discussed in details by the ISHS Executive Committee and has received the consent of all Section and Commission Chairs.
To optimize ISHS symposia (cost/benefit analysis, rationalizing resources of the Society) and to improve the scientific experience of each ISHS member (member demand) by creating more exciting and fun meetings and in the same time further improving the relevancy of ISHS meetings in the future to be even more inclusive in innovative issues, a revised structure for the ISHS Executive Committee had to be adopted.
As part of the restructuring the concept of 'Section' and 'Commission' will be changed into using the term 'Division' instead.
The concept of 'Commission' will only be used for 'special commissions' (currently: Banana and Plantain, Plant Cultivar Registration).
Since Executive Committee elections are to take place prior to IHC2018, the concept of Division is already in use for the purpose of the elections.
The elections being organized based on the new structure of Divisions do not affect the current Sections and Commissions which are to remain operational as usual until after the IHC2018. Once the new elected Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons in the new Divisions will have been confirmed into office at the IHC2018 the new structure will come into place and the current Sections/Commissions will cease to exist.
Members in the current Sections and Commissions will automatically be moved into the new Divisions covering the scope of their research interest. Members in the current Sections and Commissions will be invited to candidate and/or to vote based on the Sections or Commissions they participate in.
