The Symposium will be organized by the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies in collaboration with the Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition Project (GEF / UNEP / FAO / ICMAP) and BFN Turkey .

 

The scientific program will cover all aspects related to the conservation of wild edibles : herbs and fruits, edible wild mushrooms and insects, as well as wild medicinal and aromatic plants.

 

BEWS2016 will provide a scientific platform for sharing ideas and lessons learned on the conservation and use of wild edibles as well as raise awareness of the results and experiences of BFN Turkey. Results of Ethnobotanical studies will be presented and the use of biodiversity for food and nutrition explored. Other topics include the sustainable utilization of wild edibles, their will is cultivation and nutritional value, processing and post-harvest technologies, molecular, chemical and morphological characterization, as well as broad Consultations on health, diets and the economic and marketing value of wild edibles.
