NACEE Conference on Sturgeon Aquaculture, Kherson, Ukraine, 18 May 2016

On 18 May 2016 the NACEE international scientific conference «Sturgeon aquaculture: modern trends and perspectives» was hold in Kherson, Ukraine. 

The conference brought together 62 participants from 8 countries, including 23 participants from NACEE members. The conference was opened with warm greetings from the deputy governor of the Kherson region E .Ryshchuk, followed by the vice-president State Agency of Fisheries of Ukraine A. Chuklin. Then, the acting rector of the Kherson State Agricultural University  Dr. Yu.Yaremenko greeted all participants on behalf of the hosts. The opening was finished with the welcoming words of the NACEE president, Dr. Laszlo Varadi, and the director of the the Institute for Fisheries of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine academician I.Hrytsynyak.

Among the special participants of the conference, the vice-president of the World Sturgeon Conservation Society, Dr.Paolo Bronzi, and a representative of the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, Eva Kovacs should be mentioned.

During the conference, 12 presentations were made, covering different issues of modern sturgeon aquaculture. After that, an excursion to the  Dnieper Sturgeon Hatchery was organized.

Altogether, besides NACEE members, 3 representatives from the State Agency of Fisheries of Ukraine, 21 scientists and university lecturers, a member from WWF (Ukraine devision) and 12 fish producers participated in the conference.
